What MCCC Has Been Doing.

11/7/09     MCCC is blogging!  Check it out at  marincertcoalition.blogspot.com

9/10/09     MCCC made a presentation to the Marin County Disaster & Citizen Corps Council (DC-3).  Our group was introduced, our vision and goals outlined, and we offered our assistance to work with the DC-3 in promoting CERT programs throughout the County of Marin.  Our group was well-received.  CERT radio also made a brief presentation.

8/25/09     MCCC received its 501(c)3 non-profit status
              as a sponsored project of MarinLink.  Donations to MCCC are now tax deductible!

7/1-5/09     MCCC hosted a booth at the Marin County Fair and provided information about CERT and collected names of residents interested in CERT and Get Ready.  We were able to furnish names to Central Marin which prevented them from canceling an upcoming CERT class.

6/19/09     MCCC’s website officially up and running!  The site continues to evolve and expand.  Check it out at www.marincert.org.

5/24/09     MCCC celebrated its one-year anniversary!!!

5/7/09     MCCC sent letter of introduction to Fire Departments in Marin.

3/14/09     MCCC’s Vision; Mission Statements created.

The issue also features a request for CERT programs to submit their own drills and exercises for inclusion in upcoming publications from the CERT National Program Office.

Red Cross First Aid Class


Plans are finalized and now firm for our Red Cross First Aid class.

What: First Aid Basics
When: Saturday, November 21 Noon to 4:00 pm
Where: "Rose" Meeting Room, Marin City Fire Station, 850 Drake Ave  (behind Best Buy in Marin City; Google for directions.)
Who: Jeff Dybdal -  certified first aid trainer for the Red Cross
Supplies: You receive a booklet and all supplies (roller gauze and gauze pads, gloves. bandages, triangular bandages, instructor, etc)
Cost: $25.00 dollars per student (this covers booklet, all supplies, etc)

This class is open to all Mill Valley and Southern Marin CERTs, VIPs and, if seats are available, interested public!

Training includes: stopping bleeding, managing sprains, strains, broken bones (arms and legs); hypothermia; frostbite (you never know when you may be vacationing in winter wonderland!) poisoning; managing types of burns (electrical, chemical, fire, etc); heat and cold-related emergencies, and more.

CERT Training Coming in Southern Marin!

A CERT training class will be given in Southern Marin on Sat. and Sun. Nov. 14th and 15th at the fire station in Marin City, 850 Drake Ave. This class is for those who live the Sausalito, Tamalpais junction, Strawberry, Tiburon and all other unincorporated areas of southern Marin.
